Morris Children’s Fund - The Fund That Gives Every Child a Voice

Founded in 2005 by Garry Morris OAM, the Morris Children's Fund began as a grassroots response to a gap in support for children with severe physical and multiple disabilities across the St George area. What started as a local initiative has since grown into an organisation serving families across Greater Sydney, from the Sutherland Shire and Inner West to Western Sydney and the Hills District.

At the heart of the Fund's work is a simple but powerful mission: to improve the quality of life for children facing severe physical and multiple disabilities, chronic illnesses, or special needs and the families who support them.

One of the Fund's flagship programs is its weekly music therapy sessions, delivered by specialist teachers in Special Needs Schools throughout the school term. Each workshop is tailored to the abilities and interests of its participants, giving every child the opportunity to express themselves, explore creativity, and push their physical boundaries through sound. The program has been so impactful that the Fund has successfully added a new school to the program every year for the past seven years. Schools including St George School and The Hills School speak to the profound difference music therapy makes, particularly for non-verbal students, for whom music offers a unique avenue for connection and communication.

The Fund also supports access to eye gaze technology, systems that allow children with motor disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism, or spinal cord injuries to interact with the world using only their eye movement. For many children, this technology opens doors to education and independence that would otherwise remain closed.

Maher Group has been proud to support the Morris Children's Fund for a number of years, preparing their annual financial reports and supporting fundraising events including their annual Golf Day. We are inspired by the work Garry and the team do every day, and we look forward to continuing to play a small part in a very big mission.
