From the Harbour City to the West: North Sydney Bears' Historic Journey

A foundation rugby league club with over a century of history is writing its most exciting chapter yet.

Few clubs in Australian rugby league carry a legacy quite like the North Sydney District Rugby League Football Club. Playing the game since 1908, the Bears are one of the sport's true foundation clubs, a name woven into the fabric of the NRL and the communities it serves.

But North Sydney isn't just living in the past. In one of the most exciting developments in recent rugby league history, the Bears have successfully partnered with the NRL and the Western Australian Government to field a team in the NRL competition from the 2027 season, becoming the feeder club for the new Perth Bears. It's a milestone that has taken years of advocacy, collaboration, and vision to achieve.

Off the field, the Bears are just as active. The club provides vital training and support pathways for both men and women in rugby league, on the field and in the wider community. Causes including Mary's House and Danny Met Sally, raising funds and awareness for organisations that make a real difference.

Looking ahead, the goals are clear: win the NSW Cup and forge the pathways that will see North Sydney players pull on a Perth Bears jersey in 2027.
