Engadine Community Services 50 Years of Strengthening Community
Engadine Community Services (ECS) has been a cornerstone of the local community for over 50 years. Founded in response to a growing need to support older residents as they aged, ECS has evolved into a comprehensive community services organisation touching the lives of people at every stage of life.
A Clear Vision and Purpose
ECS's vision is to provide leadership that ensures all people feel involved, with their abilities, cultures and strengths recognised. Their purpose is simple but powerful - to build communities by providing responsive services to identified needs. At the heart of everything they do is a mission to empower people to engage in activities that enhance their physical and mental health and lead to positive wellbeing.
Services That Span Every Stage of Life
From Early Intervention Services for children and families through to Aged Care programs, ECS offers something for everyone. They also serve as a local resource hub, providing information and referral services, JP services, computer classes, a community library, a syringe drop-off service, and a welcoming space for other community programs to call home.
Transforming Spaces, Transforming Lives
One of ECS's recent highlights has been the transformation of their children's playgroup area. The space had become tired and the surrounds had deteriorated, with the soft fall surface becoming a genuine safety concern. Through a combination of a local clubs grant, which funded a beautiful new mural, State Government support for new shade sails, and ECS's own investment in replacing the soft fall, the area has been completely revitalised. The result is a positive, vibrant learning environment where children and families come to play and connect. The impact has been measurable too, with attendance numbers for ECS's children's services increasing since the transformation.
A Trusted Partnership with Maher Group
ECS has found a reliable financial partner in Maher Group, who complete their annual financial audit. The team at Maher Group are valued for being professional, supportive and always ready to answer questions, giving ECS the confidence to focus on what they do best.
Looking Ahead
ECS never stands still. Having completed a community survey two years ago that led directly to the introduction of a walking group, a line dancing class and two gentle gym classes, they are now embarking on a new comprehensive survey to understand what the local community needs next. Whatever the results, ECS is committed to responding and growing alongside the people they serve.
Get Involved
None of this would be possible without the dedication of ECS's 50 wonderful volunteers. If you're looking for a meaningful way to contribute to your local community, ECS is a great place to start.
